How is MileageSnaps different from other mileage trackers?
MileageSnaps uses photos of your odometer instead of GPS tracking. This means zero battery drain, complete privacy (we don't track your location), and stronger IRS audit defense with visual proof. You manually start and end shifts, so you only track work miles - not your entire life.
Do I need to type in my odometer readings?
Nope! Just take a photo. Our OCR technology automatically reads the numbers from your odometer photo. You don't have to type anything.
Will this drain my battery?
No. Unlike GPS-based trackers, MileageSnaps doesn't run in the background or constantly monitor your location. You only open the app when starting and ending shifts. Zero battery drain between uses.
Is this IRS compliant?
Yes. MileageSnaps tracks all required information: date, starting location, ending location, miles driven, and business purpose. The photo evidence actually provides stronger documentation than GPS logs alone.
Can I use this for Uber, Lyft, or DoorDash?
Absolutely! You can tag each shift with its purpose (Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, Client Meeting, Delivery, etc.). This makes it easy to separate different income sources at tax time.
What if I forget to end a shift?
The app will remind you the next day if you have an unfinished shift. You can then complete it or mark it as personal. Smart nudges (optional Bluetooth reminders) can also help remind you when you park.
How do I export my mileage for taxes?
Go to the Reports tab and choose your date range. You can export to CSV (for Excel) or PDF. The export includes all your trip details, photos, and calculated deductions ready for your accountant or tax software.
Does this work offline?
Yes! You can start/end shifts and take photos without an internet connection. Everything syncs when you're back online.
What's the current IRS mileage rate?
For 2025, the IRS standard mileage rate is $0.70 per mile. MileageSnaps automatically uses the current rate, but you can also set custom rates if needed.
Is my data private and secure?
Yes. We don't track your location or routes. Your odometer photos and shift data are stored securely on your device and backed up to iCloud (if enabled). We never sell your data.
